Some Voices is supporting Save Our Venues campaign
Every term, Some Voices choir chooses a charity that matters to our members. We are currently rehearsing virtually with our Lockdown Sessions but still wanted to use the opportunity to fundraise with our community for a cause that we all care about.
This Spring, Some Voices will be supporting the campaign and crowdfunder 'Save Our Venues' with a focus on long term partner venue, The Clapham Grand. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, this essential venue which has played an integral part in the cultural and economic vibrancy of the city, is at risk of closure.
Laura Howe, Some Voices Musical Director comments:
“Some Voices is driven by a mission to bring people together through shared experiences, and we have always revelled in the challenge of developing unique ideas for different spaces and venues. We love working with The Grand who champion our notion of variety and we refuse to sit back and do nothing while the threat of closure continues. We wouldn't be who we are without this incredible venue and we want to do everything we can do to fight for and support the team.”
Since its opening in 1900, The Grand has consistently been a place to focus and showcase the creative arts with a diverse programme that includes everything from boxing and Bollywood to discos and drag. Meanwhile, the stage has also welcomed the likes of Oasis, Charlie Chaplin, Bianca Del Rio and Bongo Bingos to name a few.
