some voices CANTERBURY CHOIR

Some Voices is a contemporary choir that believes singing is for everyone ! We welcome all voices - there are no auditions and it’s all about having fun together in a relaxed, friendly community.

It doesn’t matter whether or not you have sung in a choir before, everyone is welcome and you don’t need to be able to read music. We learn original arrangements of a wide range of pop, indie, soul and disco music. Aside from making music together, we socialise and create a community of like-minded individuals.

Our Winter term starts 17 September 2024.

YOUR LEADER - CATHERINE COURTLEY

Catherine is an experienced vocal leader who has been running musical groups and choirs around London and East Kent since 2016. She also hosts regular choral workshops and her choir arrangements have been performed by The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and choirs up and down the country.

As well as being leader of our Margate choir, Catherine is also General Manager in the Some Voices team. As you'd expect, she is generally crazy about choirs and the joy that comes from uniting people through the power of singing. She can't wait to bring the incredible vocal arrangements of Some Voices to Canterbury!

I’m constantly blown away by the positive effect of singing in choirs. It builds confidence, creates instant communities, forges lifelong friendships, helps people express emotions, move their bodies and improve breathing. But most importantly of all it’s fun! A weekly boost of real-life away-from-screens positivity which we all need.
— Canterbury Choir Leader Catherine
