Louder Together raises £2,700 for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust

Some Voices choir sings and speaks out about unity in support of a fairer society

On 22nd July, Some Voices choir premiered a virtual choir performance like no other. LOUDER TOGETHER is a performance video that combines hundreds of home-recorded singers, heart-felt poetic interludes and a triumphant title song, written by Some Voices.

The theme of Louder Together is the power of music to unite us all, despite differences and distances. Although unable to sing together in person, members united through online rehearsals and recorded songs and words to create a piece of performance art.

Every term, Some Voices members nominate charities to support through performances and social activities, as part of their mission to give back to the community. This term, in the context of the Black Lives Matter movement, they chose to support the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust:

"The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust was amongst the nominated charities and we were immediately drawn to its values and passion to work with young people in overcoming discrimination. They not only work in schools and communities, but also help businesses to look at the benefits of inclusion throughout their management structures. As well as the premiere, the choir organised an online quiz and a raffle, and raised a total of £2,700 for the Trust.

Some Voices

SOME VOICES started small in 2010, with seven chorus members meeting up to perform original arrangements of popular classics that range from Bowie to Bjork, from Stevie Wonder to Stevie Nicks, from Folk to Hip Hop, and everything in between - all with a Some Voices twist.

Nine years down the line, more than 1500 singers are now part of the exciting ensemble that performs on some of the biggest stages in London. KOKO, The Southbank Centre, Oval Space,The Rivoli Ballroom, The Grand Clapham, HERE and The Troxy have all seen the group attract audiences in their thousands
