Some Voices ‘Unplugged’

Unite, unwind and unplug with London’s coolest choir this August. 200 voices sing the stress out of your summer in the city. All live. All acoustic. All together.

London is loud. Traffic growls. Sirens howl. Roadworks roar. Constant crowds. Tubes and trains. Buses and planes.

Ever feel like you just want to Unplug from it all?

Calling forever fans, recent revelers and brand-new beholders alike. This August, Some Voices invites you to ditch the din and dirt of the festival crowds to catch an intimate and acoustic performance of some of it’s favourite songs as you've never heard them before.

Following in the footsteps of artists as diverse as Jay Z to Nirvana, Some Voices will be taking the ‘Unplugged’ stage and giving a new lease of life to some of the most loved songs from their back catalogue. R&B classics are stripped back to their very essence. Unexpected energy is injected into pop ballads. Hidden harmonies are brought to the forefront. Unplugged and uncovered - you’ll be reminded why you fell for these songs in the first place.

SOME VOICES, musically directed by both Laura Howe and Curtis Stansfield, was set up to give people the opportunity to sing in a group that was different from usual classical or religious styles. This ‘choir without the boring bits’, takes Some Voicers, glitters them up and puts them on some of the biggest stages in London.  Sheet music is replaced with dance moves, choir robes with fashion frocks, church organs by keytars - this really is ‘the closest thing to being a rock star’ (The Guardian)

Starting small with only six members in 2010, eight years down the line more than 1000 singers are now part of an energetic and uplifting ensemble. Performing original arrangements of popular classics ranging from Bowie to Bjork, Stevie Wonder to Stevie Nicks, from Folk to Hip Hop, and everything in between - all with a Some Voices twist - their electrifying, immersive and unique gigs attract audiences in their thousands.

Performing with artists such as David Byrne, Young Fathers, Mika, Andreya Triana, and Strong Asian Mothers, Some Voices are rapidly becoming known as London’s coolest choir.
