Wakey Wakey – It’s time for your musical dream…

A happy belated Easter to our wonderful Some Voices family.

We hope you all had a super weekend spent with family and friends, that you stuffed your faces with chocolate & now can’t stand the sight of a Creme Egg. In case you were wondering, Laura eats hers one half at a time, whereas Curtis bites the top of his, and then, “it all get a bit naughty” (direct quote).

A lot of you have been wondering what’s been going on here at Some Voices HQ, so with 3 weeks to go, we thought now would be a good time to let you in on the marvelous materials of our minds.

Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams

A massive hug, high five and hooray to everyone who came down and sang at the Southbank on Monday. And everyone that couldn’t make it, we can’t wait to hear what it sounds like with you there in a few weeks’ time.

We’ve managed to finalise pretty much everything for ‘Sweet Dreams’ now… We have our musicians, lighting designer, sound technician, venue, bar staff and security all booked. And we’ve got a bloody brilliant poster, designed by Monday choir’s Jake Read (http://jakeread.com/) , who as well as singing and DJing with us just so happens to be an ace graphic designer too.

Alongside the choir there’ll be a mixture of poetry, spoken word, projection, and even perhaps a moment of nudity (more on that later!). The choir will be smack bang at the centre of the show, with a fantastic actor playing our Dreamweaver, who will guide the audience through the performance, as we explore his dreams together.

But really, this night is all about you, you wonderful people. It’s about your voices, the magic you create when you sing together, and the power that has to transport people to another world.

The show is on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th April… BUT, if we can sell out both nights, then we’d love to do an extra show on the Wednesday 22rd.

Squib is our lighting designer for ‘Sweet Dreams’. Have a look at his tumblr page and get as excited as we are about what he might have in store for us.

Our costumes for the show are going to be all things white, dreamy and elegant, with flashes of gold and sparkle. Think Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty. Think Kayne West and Kim Kardashian (minus the sex tape). Think layers, textures, shimmers and glimmers. Have a look HERE https://www.pinterest.com/somevoices/sweet-dreams/ at the pinterest page we have put together for some costume inspiration.

Some Voices

SOME VOICES started small in 2010, with seven chorus members meeting up to perform original arrangements of popular classics that range from Bowie to Bjork, from Stevie Wonder to Stevie Nicks, from Folk to Hip Hop, and everything in between - all with a Some Voices twist.

Nine years down the line, more than 1500 singers are now part of the exciting ensemble that performs on some of the biggest stages in London. KOKO, The Southbank Centre, Oval Space,The Rivoli Ballroom, The Grand Clapham, HERE and The Troxy have all seen the group attract audiences in their thousands
