Some Voices releases Spotify EP Louder Together

On 6th November, contemporary choir Some Voices released an EP on Spotify of songs recorded by our members for digital project ‘Louder Together’.

‘Louder Together’ features the title track, an original song written by Musical Directors Laura Howe and Curtis Stansfield, inspired by the events of the Summer and the Black Lives Matter movement. The EP also features original arrangements of ‘Sweet Disposition’ by the Temper Trap, ‘Cold Little Heart’ by Mercury Music Prize 2020 winner Michael Kiwanuka, ‘Once in a Lifetime’ by Talking Heads, ‘Hoppipolla’ by Sigur Ros and ‘You’ve Got the Love’ by Florence + the Machine.

The EP was recorded from home by members of Some Voices choir, our professional company vocalists and features guest artists including Chima Anya, Arieleno and Ben Harris. A performance video for each track, as well as the whole project, are now on our YouTube channel, edited by choir member Adam Ferrari of Hello Pickle Media.

During the Spring and Summer of 2020, choirs were not able to meet and sing together in person due to COVID-19 restrictions, so Some Voices took rehearsals online with a series of YouTube streams and video tutorials for our members. Over several weeks, the choir rehearsed and filmed themselves singing their part for each track, which the team then transformed into the final performance of ‘Louder Together’.

The premiere of ‘Louder Together’ in July raised £2700 for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, which was chosen by our members as our Summer charity. Every term, Some Voices choir chooses a charity to support with our social events and end of term performances.

Our first digital project, ‘Social Distant Sing’, is also available on Spotify and YouTube.

Some Voices

SOME VOICES started small in 2010, with seven chorus members meeting up to perform original arrangements of popular classics that range from Bowie to Bjork, from Stevie Wonder to Stevie Nicks, from Folk to Hip Hop, and everything in between - all with a Some Voices twist.

Nine years down the line, more than 1500 singers are now part of the exciting ensemble that performs on some of the biggest stages in London. KOKO, The Southbank Centre, Oval Space,The Rivoli Ballroom, The Grand Clapham, HERE and The Troxy have all seen the group attract audiences in their thousands
